EAGLE RIDGE BUILDINGS COLLABORATES WITH BLUE HERON FILMS TO PROVIDE HOUSES FOR HOMELESS VETS, SHOOTING LOCATION FOR CHARLIE'S CHRISTMAS WISH
Ellijay, Georgia, June 18, 2018 - Eagle Ridge Buildings is excited to show support for the military with its involvement in the film CHARLIE'S CHRISTMAS WISH. The film follows John Frost (AIDEN TURNER), a veteran of Afghanistan who returns home early from the war, but finds that is wife (Toni Hudson) and son (Walker Mintz) will be busy with their activities during the holiday season. Shadowed by his son's angel dog, Charlie, he searches for a way to cope with his PTSD, meets other vets who share his struggle and ultimately finds purpose in helping to house his fellow soldiers in need.
Penned by Sue Ann Taylor, the movie needed a solution that could effectively address the homeless problem that is often overlooked. Interestingly enough, the writer/producer said she didn't have to search far: "I discovered Eagle Ridge Buildings in Ellijay before this project took shape. Their wonderful tiny houses were the perfect solution to the troubling problem of displaced servicemen and women."
Those homes are Eagle Ridge's response to the tiny house boom. Unlike many other developers, the range of designs is durable, stylish and full-featured. The result is a selection of structures that give veterans and other owners a home with low overhead, so it is easy to maintain. In fact, there are options to go completely off the grid, keeping overhead to a minimum.

In addition to supplying the featured home, owner Paul Malham opened his lot to the production as one of their shooting locations. There, Blue Heron is completing its 40-day filming schedule with the backdrop of the North Georgia Mountains. Happy to be a host, Mr. Malham noted, "We have a concentration of veterans locally, so it seems appropriate to tell the story here; but this discussion needs to be, and will be, seen everywhere."
CHARLIE'S CHRISTMAS WISH will premiere on Veterans Day, November 11, 2018. With a nationwide release, its message will be shared throughout the holiday season. While the home seen is produced locally, Eagle Ridge's plans fit virtually everywhere. Considering the movie and related efforts are contributing to vets, this is hopefully the first of many homes to be built for service people in Ellijay and across the nation.
